The brief was like a bad dream. A big live action holiday spot had just been cancelled. Instead, the brand needed to shift focus to its recipe community. The recipe of the season? Cookie balls. We were handed some visual assets and asked to make a simple social post. We made some. Then, to cheer up the team, I wrote a truly ridiculous track and Magnus animated it using the assets the clients had given. We played it at the end of the meeting for fun. They bought it. LA personality JINX rapped it. Suddenly it was on Good Morning America, and respected newspeople were crying on air as they recited lyrics like "You gon' taste some cookie balls."
Of course we did it again for Halloween. Winning lyric: "Girl, last night I saw some Spooky Balls."
